This 1959 is a good friends 1959 factory 270hp, dual quad, 4 speed, two top Corvette. The car was originally white with a silver cove and a red interior. The car was an ex-race car. The body is in fantastic shape except for the front end which had been replaced with a 1960 front end. I removed that incorrect front end and am replacing it with a front end from Corvette Image. Her name is Lola !
* March 4, 2019 - Yes folks - LOLA is getting her second primer !!!!! The owner had some time set backs - he moved and built a house and travels a ton for business - so Lola was put in storage - We have dug her back out and went panel by panel to fix little items - Great news - Lola is getting a fresh coat of 2k primer !!!
* Nov 7th - Yesterday I finished blocking Lola ! Every panel is blocked and ready for the next step. She is going into storage for the winter to heat/cold cycle. This will reduce the amount of shrinkage, and make the final paint work that much better.
* Oct 9th - We are blocking the primer - the convertible lid and trunk lid are done,
* Sept 28th - SHE IS PRIMED !!
* Sept 27th - MILESTONE "Lola" is ready for primer. She will be primered today or tomorrow!!!!!!!!
* Update - Sept 12th - "Lola" is very very very close to primer - I am going panel by panel - removing all the chrome and prepping each panel. They body is 75% done.
* Update - August 28th 2016 - FINALLY - I have finished fitting all the chrome. headlights, taillights and body panels - "Lola" is ready for primer - We will do a panel by panel "punch list" and it is ready for primer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
* Update - August 6th 2016 - I am still doing body work - I missed my personal goal of primer in July - we are really close an want to get the '59 in primer !!! - Check out our progress made on the frame !!!!!!!
* Update - June 5th 2016 - I am fitting the hood and we are on final body work - the chrome fit is excellent !!! - I would like to get the body in primer in July.........I hope
*July 22nd 2019 - The body was 2k primed back in Feb 2019 and right now is on the lift waiting to be blocked
The engine has been stripped and painted with 2k orange. We mated the new clutch, pressure plate and bell housing with the newly rebuilt transmission
Goal is to fire the engine in 30 days
* Jan 14, 2021 - After much delay - Lola was put back into production. I started the final block and ready for paint. The body has been final blocked with 400. Lola is ready for paint ! We have a some repairs to do to the under side of the trunk. After that, we plan to paint it !
* Sept 27th, 2021 - Lola is in paint ! She will receive the highest NCRS paint and she will be beautiful. While that is happening, we have sent the radio our for restoration, the front carb for adjustments and the heater core for repair. Additionally - ALL the chrome came back from Pauls chrome - some big huge boxes !!!!
I cant wait to put this one together.
The body was painted and lots of assembly before setting the body on the chassis.
We went thru the judging manual over and over to check for correctness and reduce any judging deductions.
The body and chassis were married back together and final assembly started
